Due to the Labor Day holiday falling the day after our regularly scheduled Genealogy Committee Meeting, we have rescheduled the meeting from Sunday, September 1 to Sunday, September 8, 2013.
This will be a research meeting.
Tentative program for October 6, 2013 – Larry Smail will be the guest speaker. He will talk on the French and Indian War and give an account from the Indian’s view of the war.

The Genealogy Committee of the Armstrong County Historical and Genealogy Society
will hold their monthly meeting on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 2-4 PM in the Mildred
Lankerd Thomas Genealogy Library – 300 North McKean Street, Kittanning, PA.
Guest speaker will be Anita Bowser, Director of the Ford City Public Library
and the coordinator of the John F. Englert Collection, a digital archive of
local history and community memories. The collection includes the recently
completed Great Depression and WWII Oral History project from 15 local
citizens who recall the 1930s and 1940s. This is an ongoing project with
plans to continue interviewing Armstrong County residents about local
history and culture.
To date, the collection includes 15 narratives in audio and video formats
and 5 that have been transcribed. These recordings are available at
the Ford City Public Library and online access can be found at
www.armstronglibraries.org/fordcity/history
Anita will discuss how the project was started and how we can access
this equipment for personal genealogy projects.

The Genealogy Committee of the Armstrong County Historical and Genealogy Society will hold their
monthly meeting on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 2-4 PM in the Mildred Lankerd Thomas Genealogy
Library – 300 North McKean St., Kittanning, PA.
Guest speaker will be Pastor Walter Marr who will present a first person imterpretation of Abraham
Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. He will speak on the life and character of Mr.
Lincoln and tell you the little tid bits of information that a lot of people were not aware of. President
Lincoln was a family man who had great family values as a father to his children and husband to
his wife. With the onset of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, this program will be a great
history lesson.

Library – 300 North McKean Street, Kittanning, PA.
This will be a research meeting.
Tentative program for July 7 – Walter Marr will do a presentation on Abraham Lincoln. This will be a nice program to coincide with the ongoing Civil War celebrations.
