The original Armstrong County Genealogy Club, ACGC, began in 1995 as a part of the Mildred Lankerd-Thomas Genealogical Library which is now a department of the Armstrong County Historical Museum and Genealogical Society (ACHM&GS).
The ACGC started a closed Facebook group (it is private, so you need to request membership plus you need to have a Facebook account.) In early 2011 we added this WordPress site as a place for more permanent information archives and accessibility, in particular for the Armstrong County Revolutionary Veterans information.
ACGClub.info is not a commercial site. There is no fee for joining and participating. We do not do genealogy requests for a fee, nor do we recommend researchers. If you need outside help, an important resource is the Mildred Lankerd-Thomas Genealogical Library, a part of the ACHM&GS, 300 North McKean Street, Kittanning, PA 16201, phone: 724-548-5707. The Kittanning Public Library is also has many research resources for Armstrong County genealogy. Both are 501(c)3 non-profit organizations.
Local Meetings
For those of you who are local (or plan to visit Kittanning), the Genealogy Committee of ACHM&GS holds meetings the first Sunday of each month except in the winter. These meetings are free and open to the public — for anyone interested in genealogy or who wants to hear the invited speakers.
We will post the Genealogy Committee meeting announcements here as they become available. You may sign up for email notification of new ACGClub.info blog posts which will include the Genealogy Committee meetings as well as other events and news.
