October 5, 2014 – Genealogy Committee Meeting

The Genealogy Committee of the Armstrong County Historical Museum and Genealogy
Society will meet on Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM in the Mildred
Lankerd Thomas Genealogy Library, 300 North McKean Street, Kittanning, PA.

Scheduled speaker will be John Walker on Forensic Genealogy. John is the family
historian for the A.D. Johnson Family Association that was founded in 1981.
John lives in DuBois and is a direct descendant of Capt. Edward Johnson, founder
of Woburn, Mass and Abail Daufreth Johnson, founder of Grassflat, PA. He has
documented his family history on his mother’s side to 1302.

John began doing genealogy as a hobby in 1981 and added forensic genealogy in
1985 by placing a flow chart on the hunting lodge where family reunions were
held and family members added their families to it. He plans to have a chart
for Armstrong County families and will present it to the Genealogy Library.
This will be a most informative program.

Upcoming dates:
October 4 – Tarentum Genealogy Conference
October 16 – Annual Fall Dinner – Celebrating 90 years
November 2 – Final meeting of the year.

Hope to see you at the meeting.

Chris
