July 10 – Genealogy Committee meeting

The Genealogy Committee of the Armstrong County Historical Museum and Genealogy Society will have their monthly meeting on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the Mildred Lankerd Thomas Genealogy Library – 300 North McKean Street, Kittanning, PA. The Apollo Historical Society will do a Power Point Program on the Drake Log Cabin. It is believed to have been built in 1816 and the only remnant of the original permanent settlement which eventually grew into the Borough of Apollo. It is the oldest building in Apollo and one of the oldest in Armstrong County.

August 7, 2011 – Edward P. Beers will do a first person living demonstration of General Robert E. Lee in full costume. This will also be held at the Mildred Lankerd Thomas Genealogy Library from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

Research can also be done following both of the above scheduled programs.

(Note: In July the meeting is on the second Sunday rather than the first because of the Fourth of July holiday.)
